The Café Bar occupies the ground floor and patio of The Alex and benefits from it’s fantastic seafront location overlooking Felixstowe’s south promenade. Our friendly, informal venue offers the full range of bar drinks, a large selection of wines by the glass or bottle, Adnams draught ales and a large gin and cocktail menu. Freshly ground coffees and cake complement the all day menu featuring delightful breakfasts, brunch, café meals and bar snacks, produced with passion in the open kitchen, by our busy brigade of chefs.

Open all day, seven days a week, 364 days of the year, The Café Bar makes the perfect place to sample a cocktail or two with friends after work, meet up with family for a leisurely weekend brunch, share weekday elevenses and a catch-up, or chill out on the large heated patio overlooking the sea, with a jug of Southwold or enjoy a warming hot chocolate and piece of cake, earned after a bracing walk along the prom.

All our dishes are freshly prepared on the premises, using seasonal ingredients whenever possible, and cooked to order.

The Alex is on Felixstowe seafront, close to Bent Hill and the Pram walk, if you are walking from the town centre.

A group of individual venues in Felixstowe

Dear all,

Customers may now come into The Alex Café Bar to order their food and drinks, whether seated inside or on either of our patios or the “prom lawn”.  Food and beverages will then be served to your table, whether inside or out.

In accordance with the government’s removal of compulsory restrictions it is now a matter of personal choice as to whether masks are worn indoors.

In all our venues, we will continue to provide: hand sanitiser, high levels of cleaning and sanitising, QR codes for voluntary checking in and respect for social distancing.

This is a difficult time for everybody as, understandably, personal feelings about the removal of compulsory restrictions differ.

We would ask that all our customers show respect for others and particularly towards our Front of House staff who continue to do their very best in what are extremely difficult circumstances.

On a happy note – at last, real summer, what a fabulous time for eating, drinking and socialising outdoors!

P.S. We are currently recruiting for both Front of House and Kitchen – please click here for more details.
